Worley and Advisian team members are excited to be presenting at this year's Gastech Exhibition and Conference. This premier conference assembles experts from across the globe to "debate and discuss the global issues and challenges facing the gas and LNG community in 2019 and beyond." Gastech is considered one of the most significant meeting places for upstream, midstream, and downstream gas, energy and LNG professionals, with over 35,000 industry professionals from across 30 industry sectors.

DAY 1: TUESDAY, 17 SEPTEMBER 2019

1700 - 1730 | LNG to Power - Capturing the Cold (Scott Schroeder- Advisian and John Rizopoulos- Worley)

SUMMARY. Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) is increasing seen as a fuel of choice for clean power generation. A considerable amount of energy is expended to convert natural gas into LNG to allow more efficient transportation. Once this LNG is transported to the end user it must be warmed and vaporized back to the gaseous state before it can be used for power generation. The typical methods of vaporizing the LNG consume more energy, however it is technically possible to recover some of the energy that was used to make the LNG “cold”.

There are multiple concepts on how to “Capture the Cold” from LNG. These concepts include organic Rankine cycles, turbine inlet air cooling, export to cold processes such as air separation and dry ice manufacturing, and export for industrial refrigeration/air conditioning. Some of these concepts have had limited implementations while others are still theoretical.

The minimization of the implementation cost of each of the concepts is key to realizing the benefits of cold recovery. We will focus on the details of how these concepts can be integrated in an LNG to Power installation. Some of these concepts can benefit from novel technology applications that can simplify integration reducing the cost and increasing the benefits of cold recovery.
The optimized cold recovery concepts explored in this paper provide opportunities to enhance LNG to Power Projects. The increased efficiency of the LNG utilization can benefit the economics of the projects, while in some cases providing secondary benefits that will make the project more locally attractive.

DAY 3: THURSDAY, 19 SEPTEMBER 2019

10:20 - 10:45 | Are We Spending Capital on the Right Emissions Reduction Strategies? (Kelly Newnham- Advisian)

SUMMARY: Companies are spending millions of dollars on emissions reduction programs based on what government agencies have identified as “high emitters”. As a sector, much time and effort has been spent on upgrading and/or replacing the high bleed instruments in an effort to be in compliance with regulators requirements. What is frustrating  the industry is that the baseline emission levels appear to have been developed arbitrarily using general assumptions and without substantiation or field verification.

Significant capital is being invested to “buy” into government programs, such as carbon off-set programs which are set to allow for financial credits and with a goal of making an impact on emissions. The big questions to ask:

• What are we really making an impact on?” - is industry simply working through a process to show on paper that they are reducing emissions, or are we creating a realistic baseline and an informed understanding of what measures need to be implemented to make a true impact.
• What is all the fuss about?” – are we implementing polices and programs that represent only a small percentage of the overall emissions problem.
• Are we spending capital on reducing emissions on instrumentation that didn’t exist in the first place?

12:15 - 12:45 | LNG Facility Life Extension Integrated Solution (Vasant Saith- Worley)

SUMMARY. The growing trend of assets commissioning life extension studies resulted in the development of a novel life extension integrated solution, based on combining multi-disciplinary technical expertise, application of an innovative automated platform for remnant life assessment and commercial capabilities for identification of life extension recommendations. The innovative automated platform, driven by a need for repeatability and cost competitiveness, is a key differentiator of the integrated solution whereby engineering assessments on thousands of assets comprising a single facility can be performed off-site in near real-time.

The final aspects of the integrated solution involve application extensive inspection capabilities incorporating innovative methodologies and development of repair / replacement programs, thereby providing asset owners with a fully integrated turnkey life extension solution.
Providing asset owners with a listing of inspection, repair or replacement scopes with associated lifecycle costs, allows for transparent decision making and improved stakeholder confidence for finalization of extended life programs. This paper will provide details on the successful application of the integrated life extension solution to some of the major global LNG players.

ANDREW WOOD| CEO - Worley

Andrew was appointed Chief Executive Officer of WorleyParsons Limited in 2012. Listed on the ASX, Worley is a leading global provider of professional project and asset services in the energy, chemicals and resources sectors. Worley operates in 51 countries and has a workforce of approximately 57,600 people. With tenure of 25 years with the Group, and over 35 years’ industry experience, Andrew has extensive knowledge across the Worley group of companies. His previous roles include Group Managing Director – Finance/CFO responsible for Group wide direction and support to the business functions of Finance, Information Management, Internal Procurement and Communications, Legal and Risk; Managing Director for the Australia / New Zealand region; Managing Director of Mergers and Acquisitions, overseeing 15 business acquisitions including Parsons E&C Corporation in November 2004 and The Colt Companies in March 2007. He was also responsible for WorleyParsons' early expansion into Thailand and the Middle East, Canada and Chile in his capacity as Managing Director for International Operations. Andrew holds a Bachelor Degree in Engineering and Graduate Diplomas in Financial Management and Labour Management Relations. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Engineers, Australia.

CRAIG HENDERSON | Managing Consultant, Energy - Advisian
Qualified as a Mechanical Engineer, Craig broadened his horizons through a Master’s degree in Engineering for Sustainable Development from the University of Cambridge. Since then, Craig has worked on numerous LNG to Power developments across Australia, South East Asia, China, Africa, the Pacific, India, Europe and Canada; providing business outcome focused solutions to LNG and Power clients who primarily develop, operate, maintain and finance physical assets. Based out of Singapore, Craig leads the LNG to Power centre of excellence for Worley and has worked with a broad range of lenders, developers, operators and other LNG to Power stakeholders. In recent times Craig’s focus has been on ‘supply led demand’ driven LNG to Power projects in developing economies, where de-risking the investment case is critical to ensure a viable development is created.

KELLY NEWNHAM | Vice President, Onshore Hydrocarbons - Advisian  

As a Vice President in the Advisian business line of the Worley Group of companies, Kelly is responsible for the development and strategic growth within the onshore hydrocarbons subsector in the Americas. Throughout her career, Kelly has worked closely with midstream and upstream clients; providing thought leadership and innovative solutions. She has extensive experience in portfolio and asset management and routinely assists operators with the evaluation and prioritization of risk, with a focus on regulatory compliance and operational readiness. Kelly has held other senior roles within the organization which includes Managing Technical Director for Liability Management, and Director of Midstream.

JOHN RIZOPOULOS | Senior Vice President, Process Technology- Worley
John has 35+ years of design and consulting experience working across the hydrocarbon supply chain – from upstream oil & gas to refineries, gas processing, LNG, petrochemicals, chemicals, polymers and fibers. He currently is the Senior Vice President, Process & Technology at Worley. His strong background in process technology development and commercialization along with his demonstrated history of building successful teams have helped him deliver profitable projects for his clients. John holds a degree in chemical engineering from the University of Windsor, Canada, and is a registered Professional Engineer in Texas, Alberta, Ontario and British Columbia.

VASANT SAITH | Chief Process Engineer- WorleyParsons
Vasant is the Chief Process Engineer for the Trinidad Location with 16 years’ experience in the Oil and Gas Industry. Vasant manages a team of Process and Process Safety Engineers supporting the upstream gas, LNG and Petrochemical industries. Vasant is regarded as a subject matter expert in overpressure protection systems and LNG Plant Design and Operations. He is a Chartered Member of IChemE, a member of the Board of Engineering of Trinidad and Tobago and the Association of Professional Engineers of Trinidad and Tobago.

SCOTT SCHROEDER | Senior Technical Consultant- Advisian

Scott Schroeder is a Senior Technical Consultant at Advisian, Worley’s consulting division. He is responsible for gas processing and petrochemical technology. His responsibilities include economic evaluation, technology selection, and operational excellence support. He has worked for over 21 years in cryogenic gas processing, LNG, gas purification, refinery off-gas processing, NGL fractionation as well as several novel processes. Mr. Schroeder has BS and MS degrees in Chemical Engineering from the University of Nebraska. He is a registered professional engineer in the State of Texas and the Province of Alberta. He is the co-inventor on 2 patents with a third patent pending.

PAUL SULLIVAN |  Senior Vice President, Global LNG & FLNG- Worley/Advisian & Gastech Strategic Governing Body Co-Chair
Paul is a graduate of University College Dublin and a Chartered Civil Engineer and Environmental Engineer. He is a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and a European PE. He has 30 years’ experience in the LNG Industry. His career has covered construction and engineering in Europe, the Middle East, India, Korea, China, SE Asia and the Americas. He headed up the FEED group in BG from 1988 to 1998 and was instrumental in developing their first grassroots Liquefaction project, Atlantic LNG in Trinidad. From 1998 to 2009 he was the Development Director within Whessoe LNG with responsibility for Project Development of LNG Import facilities in India, Europe and the Americas. Currently he is Senior Vice President Global LNG and FLNG for Worley Parsons, responsible for the initiation, development and securing of all LNG projects.
