The ‘Hands on – Hands off’ initiative was devised by the D&R team in conjunction with our major client, National Grid Property, with input from our specialist subcontractor CC Ground Investigation (CCGI).
The purpose of the campaign was to raise awareness of the susceptibility of hands to injury during ground investigations and highlight the impact hand injuries, both minor and severe, can have on our work and personal lives. The campaign also promoted good hand hygiene and reinforced the importance of dynamic risk assessments.
The 12-month campaign comprised a series of posters and interactive tool box talks developed by Advisian, and supported by safety briefings and presentations during site works.
The initiative empowered all staff to contribute. This collaborative approach was a key factor behind the overall success of the campaign. Since the campaign launch, Advisian, CCGI, and National Grid have observed a notable reduction in injuries to hands. In recognition of developing the campaign, Advisian was awarded the Best SHE Leadership award by National Grid.
The Ground Engineering Awards ceremony will be held in June in London.
