Desika

A partnership that creates value for our clients, opportunities for our people and allows for sustainable project development through environmental stewardship.

We’ve teamed up to ensure developments within the Athabasca region balance sustainability and economic prosperity. Because we care about the land, water, air and those who call this region home.

We’re proud of the partnership we’ve forged with the Mikisew Cree First Nation (MCFN) and Fort McKay First Nations (FMFN) in Alberta, Canada. Together we provide world-class environmental consulting services (including water, geoscience, regulatory support and more) within the Athabasca region. This partnership is known as Desika. Fifty one percent of it is owned by MCFN and FMFN.

The intent of Desika is to build a collaborative business model that supports the two communities with their goals of capacity development, integrating cultural and environmental worldviews, and developing a sustainable environmental business opportunity.

The long-term goal of Desika is to provide sustainable career opportunities for MCFN and FMFN members while supporting our clients with their goals of environmental stewardship, benefit sharing, ESG, and reconciliation.

This partnership brings together the technical expertise of Advisian’s Environment & Water service line with our Indigenous partners’ connection to the local environment and community.
