Providing contractor management to ensure environmental compliance.
The Situation
As part of the Black Rock mine, an expansion project was planned to increase the output of high-grade manganese ore products and increase the life of the mine. The current mining operations produce +/- 3.2 Mt per annum. The expansion project will lead to increased output to 4.6 Mt.
Approach
Advisian was employed to provide management of the on-site contractors in accordance with Assmang’s ISO14001:2004 certified management system for the Black Rock Manganese Mine.
Support was provided during all stages including, tender adjudication, procurement, kick-off, construction contractor management and close-outs.
Results
Advisian ensured environmental management compliance in terms of the approved Environmental Management Plan and the ISO14001 environmental management system throughout all execution phases.
