Case Study

Fortescue Metals Group – Water Resources Services

A relationship based on performance and trust.

In Western Australia, we have a long-standing working relationship with Fortescue Metals Group (Fortescue) - one of Australia’s largest iron ore producers - providing services from the early days of development through to ongoing operations.

Projects include:

  • Port and mine site drainage system design.

  • Pit-lake hydrogeological modelling to support mine closure.

  • Drilled deep artesian water bores to support approval applications needed to secure the water supply for a proposed mine site.

  • Flood modelling (2D) across two of Fortescue’s mine operations to assist with mine planning, surface water management and approvals.

  • Detailed design of river diversions and flood protection measures at the port and mine sites to minimise risk of interruptions to iron ore production.

  • Concept and detailed design of bridge culvert and waterway crossings for over 260km of railway.

  • Dewatering system design, monitoring and compliance reporting during the construction of Fortescue’s train unloader at Port Hedland.
